This heritage matters: Entain's technology powers BetMGM's odds engine and platform, while MGM's brand recognition opens doors with customers who trust the casino giant's reputation for fairness.
BetMGM secured its AGCO registration for the Ontario market launch in April 2022 and has steadily grown its market share among Ontario sports bettors. In our hands-on testing over three months, BetMGM emerged as a strong fourth-place finisher — not quite matching bet365's market depth or DraftKings's payout speed, but offering genuine strengths in prop bet selection, CFL coverage, and live streaming features.
For Ontario bettors who focus heavily on CFL, who place lots of prop bets on NHL and NBA games, or who want occasional live streaming access, BetMGM makes a compelling case for a spot in your rotation.
Odds Quality — Competitive on Major Markets
BetMGM's odds are competitive on the NHL, NBA, and NFL. In our testing across 80 NHL regular-season games, BetMGM posted the best available moneyline in approximately 20% of matchups — comparable to FanDuel and ahead of most smaller Ontario operators.
On NHL totals, BetMGM's lines move efficiently and often sit within a few cents of market consensus. Their NFL spreads are consistently in line with the major US market. One area of genuine strength: CFL markets. BetMGM offers broader CFL betting options than any of the other four operators in our comparison — a meaningful differentiation for Canadian bettors who follow the league closely.
The prop bet selection at BetMGM is a highlight. The platform offers an extensive catalogue of player props across NHL, NBA, and NFL — shots on goal, power play time, hat tricks, first goal scorer in hockey; points, rebounds, assists, and more granular derivatives in basketball. While DraftKings holds a slight edge on player prop volume, BetMGM is clearly in the same tier and meaningfully better than FanDuel in this category.
The BetMGM App
BetMGM's mobile app is available for iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). The design language draws on the MGM casino aesthetic — dark tones, gold accents — but manages to feel like a sportsbook, not a slot machine. Navigation is clear: sports markets are organized by league and date, the live betting section is accessible from the bottom navigation bar, and the betslip behaviour is reliable.
In our performance testing, the BetMGM app averaged 1.4-second load times — slightly behind bet365 and DraftKings, but not meaningfully so in daily use. We experienced two minor glitches over three months of testing: one where odds didn't update during a live NHL period, and one brief app freeze during a high-traffic playoff game. Both resolved on their own within seconds. App store ratings sit at 4.5 on iOS and 4.4 on Android.
The live streaming feature is worth highlighting. BetMGM offers streaming of select sporting events directly within the app — a feature that bet365 also provides but DraftKings and FanDuel do not. For bettors who want to watch and bet simultaneously without switching to a separate broadcast, this is a genuine quality-of-life advantage.
Sports Coverage — CFL Leader Among Major Ontario Books
BetMGM Ontario covers 30+ sports. Highlights:
- NHL: Full regular season and playoff coverage. Moneylines, puck lines, period betting, totals, and an extensive player prop menu. Strong live betting.
- NBA: Comprehensive. Player props rival DraftKings in breadth. Quarter-by-quarter betting available.
- NFL: All games including Super Bowl. Spreads, moneylines, totals, team props, game props, and player props.
- CFL: BetMGM's strongest area relative to competitors. Full regular season, playoffs, and Grey Cup. Spreads, totals, player props, and first scorer markets are all available. If you're a CFL bettor, BetMGM is where you want to be.

Processing is consistent — we've never encountered an unexplained hold or a declined withdrawal — but the 2–5 business day Interac window is slower than DraftKings's same-day processing. If payout speed is a priority, DraftKings is the better choice. If you're comfortable waiting a few business days, BetMGM's reliability is not a concern.

BetMGM offers live chat and email support. In our testing, live chat response times averaged 10–18 minutes during busy periods — slightly slower than bet365 and DraftKings. Support staff were helpful on standard questions (deposits, withdrawals, account verification) but less consistent on complex issues like account disputes or odds discrepancies.
The help centre covers common questions thoroughly. Phone support is not offered, consistent with the Ontario market standard.

BetMGM takes fourth in our Ontario rankings — a solid "very good" that falls short of the top three primarily on withdrawal speed and total market breadth. But for the right bettor, BetMGM is the best available option. If you're primarily a CFL bettor, BetMGM's coverage makes it the clear choice. If prop bets are your primary bet type, BetMGM and DraftKings are neck-and-neck and both substantially ahead of FanDuel. If you want occasional live streaming access, BetMGM delivers where DraftKings and FanDuel don't.
